ADDITIONAL DETAILS

With a history dating back to 1895, Lonesome Valley is a private community celebrating family, nature, and simplicity.  Gracefully spanning the valley floor of the largest box canyon east of the Rockies, Lonesome Valley is said by many to be the place where Heaven and Earth meet.

The valley encompasses nearly 800 acres of verdant forests and meadows surrounded by the 1,000-foot granite mountain faces of Cow Rock Mountain and Laurel Knob.  A purposeful design of expansive homesites and nearly 300 acres of community green areas reflect an uncommon respect for the land and all that reside upon it.

Canyon Kitchen is one of the most beautiful restaurant settings in the country, framed by verdant forests and meadows, encircled by thousand-foot granite cliffs. Located inside the Lonesome Valley community but open to the public, Canyon Kitchen features an exquisite dining experience featuring local foods in a sophisticated Appalachian Style.

True to its history and agrarian roots, Lonesome Valley’s Canyon Kitchen offers a humble yet extraordinary connection to food that both sustains and entertains the senses. Massive oak beams define the structure of Jennings Barn and its open-air dining while magnificent granite faces set the scene. Guests are invited to stroll through the gardens; enjoy the soft hues of sunset and the dazzling display of fireflies. Nature’s aperitif.
